The kingdom of heaven within is my treasure and joy.
Everyone delights in finding hidden treasure. Whether a child discovers coins buried in a sandbox or an adult stumbles upon a priceless antique in the attic—finding unexpected wealth is joyous! The greatest treasure, however, isn’t hidden at all. It is the kingdom of heaven within. God’s abiding presence brings treasures of love, wholeness, and life. Joy comes from discovering God as my source of wisdom, strength, and joy. God’s limitless supply meets every need. This is treasure indeed! I need not search for happiness on the outside when the kingdom of heaven is here on the inside.
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.—Matthew 13:44
