I listen attentively and speak mindfully.
Today I communicate compassionately. I am attentive to what others say, and I speak with honesty and kindness. In the past when someone spoke to me, I may have been distracted by my thoughts and judgments. Today I listen closely. When someone expresses a need, I repeat their words and make sure I understand. Before I speak, I consider—are my words true, kind, and necessary? I kindly communicate what I know to be true. As I share my points of view on a topic, I respect the opinions of others. Instead of wanting to be right, my intention is to share information and deepen my relationships. As I speak from my heart and my truth, I enjoy healthy relationships, and I am transformed.
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful.—Ephesians 4:29
