I listen with an open heart.
One
of the most powerful things I can do for myself and others is develop
the skill of listening. In the hustle and bustle of life, I may forget
to stop for a moment and listen to the world around me. As I tune
in, I hear the birds singing their song to welcome the day. I hear the
voices of family and friends as they interact with each other. I hear
the sounds of the city or the country and the everyday noises of life. I
listen intently, experiencing a greater connection with my world. I am
one with all people, all life. I see the ways in which we are all
interwoven as a community and how important it is to listen and hear
each other—our thoughts, our opinions, our fears, and desires. I listen
and give thanks for the world around me.
Then pay attention to how you listen; for to those who have, more will be given.—Luke 8:18
