I choose to be happy today.
I’ve
heard the old cliche, “It’s all in how you look at it,” but it has
taken years to recognize those words as a powerful tool for happiness.
My experience of life is entirely determined by the way I choose to view
people and events and the labels I apply to them, good or bad. I see this when a friend thinks a meal is wonderful and I don’t, or
I’m thrilled by some family news while a loved one sees trouble. Clearly
our responses are not determined by events; we are interpreting the
same events differently. We are choosing whether to be happy. Free will
is part of my divine makeup and feels like a gift from God. I can choose
to be happy every day!
If there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.—Philippians 4:8
