I hear God in the sounds of life all around me.
Listening
connects me to this present moment. When I pay attention to my senses, I
ground myself in the things and people that are part of my experience
here and now—the voices of my friends and family, the chirping birds, or
the melody of a song. I take in the sounds of God expressing all around
me. When I listen in the silence of prayer and meditation, I become more
aware of God within me. I focus inward and feel rooted in Spirit. While
the information I receive from the external world is valuable, I
regularly turn off my outer ears and tune in to what is happening within
me. There, in silence, I hear God most clearly.
My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish.—John 10:27-28
