I rest in the awareness of God.
In
the creation story, God rested on the seventh day. Rest is a spiritual
practice in many religions, a weekly time of relaxation and prayer. Rest
is important for my whole being—mind, body, and spirit. I can take
time to rest each week, each day, and even in a moment if I turn within. Prayer is my rest from the busyness of the day. It is a time of
reflection and experiencing my oneness with God. When I rest in this
awareness, I feel an inner peace, a sense of something larger than
myself, and a connection to all people. I tap in to a consciousness of
love that transcends time or distance. My body is relaxed, my mind is
stilled. I emerge feeling a new vitality and sense of peace.
On God rests my deliverance and my honor; my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.—Psalm 62:7
