As I forgive myself, I can forgive others.
The
words I say and choices I make can sometimes hurt others, and I may
feel regret for something I’ve said or done. Forgiving others is one of
the keys to living free. Before I can truly forgive anyone else,
however, I must first be willing to forgive myself. At my core, I am
divine. On the outside, I am a human being who can make mistakes and
fall short of my best. I take time to reflect on what happened and then pause, inhaling a
deep, cleansing breath. Moving from human judgment into the space of
divine love, I embrace the lesson available to me. This is a moment of
discovery—an opportunity to find compassion for myself and others. I
make amends, knowing that at the core of forgiveness is mercy, love, and
grace.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.—Matthew 5:7
