As I Bless, I Am Blessed.
In The Revealing Word, Unity cofounder Charles Fillmore defines the word bless as meaning “to confer God’s good on something or someone.” This is how I feel when I count my many blessings, as though I have received the goodness of God. I want to share God’s grace and gifts generously, so I bless others with kind words and supportive acts as often as I can. Doing this opens me to a greater understanding of blessings, namely the spiritual gifts I receive whenever I confer God’s good on someone else. To bring joy, comfort, prosperity, or healing to another will bless them certainly, but it will also bless me as God’s good flows from me into the world.
I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.—Genesis 12:2
